JESSE’S SMILE Our Ottawa community is great for helping each other. I am impressed with the community spirit of CHEZ 106 Classic Rock. The Doc And Woody Morning show have been long time sponsors of the CHEO operating room fund. One day Doc forwarded an e-mail. A listener in Armprior was concerned about a boy in her son’s class. He had a severe overbite and as a result, was the victim of bullying. I don’t do orthodontic treatment but Dr Bill Deacon in our building is my referral specialist. We consulted with each other and he agreed to treat Jesse at a considerable reduction in fees. Thus began the Jesse’s Smile Fund. People were generous to a fault and within a month we had raised the money. At the beginning Jesse was going to school only 20% of the time due to the bullying. Since he began treatment his self esteem has soared . His mother tells me he is now doing really well. Hats off, to the following people who helped. I don’t have a list of all the individuals who contributed but you know who you are. Lana Plaunt who got the ball rolling Doc and Woody who used some lateral thinking to contact me My great staff who worked hard contacting people to get donations. Ken Eaman’s Kiwanis club, whose members are over 75. Greg Pilon /Bobcat Gray and Bluestone for donating their talents to a benefit Concert. Eugene Haslam of Zaphod’s who made his club available to our fund raiser. The Texas Chop House restaurant who donated prizes. CTV News Ottawa who covered the event which brought in more Donations. The CHEZ 106 Events Crew with Eric "The Intern" who hosted the show The Lieutenant’s Pump pub who gave generously. Steve’s Music Ottawa who donated a guitar to Jesse. I told Jesse that the way he can thank everyone who helped is to work hard at school so he can "Pay Forward " some day.
